What should I avoid before a Botox and Filler treatment?

In general, please avoid substances which may increase your risk of bleeding or bruising, such as: alcohol, and medications or supplements which may interfere with platelet function. These include anti-inflammatory medication (e.g. Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Naprosyn, etc) and some supplements like Glucosamine, Ginkgo Biloba, ginseng, garlic, green tea, ginger, Omega 3 fatty acids (fish oil), Vitamin E. Try to avoid these supplements for 3-5 days prior to your treatment.

Can I apply moisturizer or makeup to my skin before Botox and Filler treatments?

Ideally, skin should be clean and dry. Light moisturizer or serum is fine, but please do not apply makeup or sunblock prior to Botox and Filler treatments.

When can I apply makeup or lipstick after Botox and filler?

Please wait a few hours after Botox, dermal filler, or lip filler before applying makeup or lipstick, etc.

Can I exercise after Botox or filler treatments?

Yes, exercise if fine after Botox or filler treatments, but should be moderate or lower intensity for the first 24 hours to minimize the risk of excess inflammation from increased blood flow to the area.

Should I avoid laying down after a Botox or Filler treatment?

Laying down after Botox or Filler treatment should not be a problem, but do not apply pressure over the treated areas for at least 4 hours. For example, do not put your face in a massage cushion immediately after a Botox or Filler treatment as this could move the product to different areas.

What if I see lumps after Botox, Lip Filler, or Dermal Filler Treatment?

Small lumps or uneven appearance is not uncommon after Botox, Lip Filler or Dermal filler. Usually, these are from the needle pokes and not necessarily from uneven product. Usually, it’s best to leave alone or use an ice pack for a few minutes at a time. Lumps generally settle out over 5-10 days. If there are any concerns, a follow-up appointment may be scheduled for a touch-up. If filler is in an unwanted location, dissolver may be used to treat.

What about bruising after Dermal filler or Botox treatments?

Bruising can happen, and is usually not a concern, but if the bruising is unexpected, or unusual in any way, especially if painful, please contact us as soon as possible as this could be a medical emergency situation which needs immediate treatment.
